We offer many opportunities for parents and other family members to participate in this process offered as follows:
- Weekly phone calls with your son or more often if appropriate
- Weekly (or more often as called for) phone calls with staff
- Parent Workshops
- Connection with Professional Family and Parent Coaches
- On-going Family Coaching after your son returns home
Every week, or more often if appropriate, you will have a telephone call with your son to discuss his progress towards healing and change. Most of the time these calls will be monitored by the Director, Assistant Director, one of our Staff Counselors in order to assist in bringing about the desired positive outcome. Telephone calls without your son will also take place weekly.
Parent Workshops are offered every three months as an opportunity for each parent (and siblings 16 or older) to learn about the process that his or her son is going through. In order to achieve the most positive outcome for your son and family, we highly encourage each parent to attend at least two of these workshops to learn basic tools of the change process and alternative parenting techniques.
The Parent Workshops will always take place on a Friday and Saturday and will be held in nearby Victor, Woodland Park or Colorado Springs. The Sunday following these workshops will be Family Day at the school when parents and siblings can visit the student for several hours. Occasionally families can take day-long outings off-campus during this time. One or more of the Family and Parent Coaches will be present at each of these workshops.
At your request we will connect you with Family and Parent Coach to work with you throughout your son's stay with us. Working with one of these coaches will enhance your learning and healing process greatly and can assist you to create what you want for yourself and your family. Our coaches have walked in your shoes, having sent their own troubled teen to a program. Feel free to call them to discuss what they offer - even before enrolling your child at Eagle's Nest School.
